About Black Swan Winery
Black Swan Winery and Restaurant sits on a property formerly known as “Gidney’s Corner” with initial planting of vines approximately in 1941. The property was purchased in 1998 by husband and wife team, Barry Scrivener and Robyn Meloury. The vineyard produces the fruit of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz, Merlot, Chenin & Chardonnay and with only having 7acres under vines, it is an inspiration to boutique wineries.
The first vintage, accomplished in 2001, reaped gold medals for the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Cabernet Franc at the 2002 Swan Valley Wine Show. The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon also won the trophy for “Best Red in its Class”. Wines produced from this single vineyard continue to win numerous medals and accolades being mainly due to traditional hands on vineyard management and techniques and age-old vines.
Building commencement of the restaurant began in 2000, opening its doors in 2002. The venue was purposely built for guests to capture fantastic views of vineyards, the Darling Ranges and rural surroundings. The design and building materials used reflect a style and blend of rustic Australian ambience, with a touch of elegance. Chef’s gardens are established throughout the property, providing much of the kitchen’s needs for organic herbs.
Black Swan Winery is a fun and leisurely place to be at, is family and children friendly, dog friendly and welcomes individuals, couples, groups and tour bookings.
